Non-Diet Dietitian in Charlotte, NC (Virtual, HAES-Aligned)

September 30, 2026 3 min read

If you’re typing “non-diet dietitian Charlotte NC” into Google, you’ve probably had it with the standard-issue approach. A meal plan on the drive home. A macros app your phone starts asking about. A scale in the corner of an office that already made you nervous. You want somebody who thinks about food differently. Hi. That’s me.

Who I am, quickly

I’m Paige Hartnett, RD LDN. I’m a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, licensed in North Carolina, based just outside Charlotte in the western part of the state. My clinical training was at Meredith College here in NC after undergrad at the University of Florida. About ten years of practice: hospitals, eating disorder treatment centers across all levels of care, and now private practice. I see clients across the U.S. via secure video, including Charlotte and the surrounding metro. Full bio on the about page.

What “non-diet” actually means

A non-diet dietitian isn’t a dietitian who’s given up on nutrition. It’s a dietitian who’s given up on the loop most of my clients are stuck in: restrict, overeat, restart, on repeat.

The plan didn’t fail because you didn’t try hard enough. It failed because it was depending on willpower, and willpower is least available in the hardest moment. That’s a structural problem, not a character flaw.

The work is one layer underneath the plan: why the last one didn’t hold, and what changes when eating stops being a graded event.

If you want the longer version, I wrote what is a non-diet dietitian, exactly? and keep more on the non-diet topic hub.

Why virtual works, especially around Charlotte

People assume “find a dietitian in Charlotte” means finding one whose office you drive to. That’s how nutrition care worked for a long time. It’s not how it needs to work now, and for the work I do, virtual is often better.

Nobody wants to end their workday, drive from SouthPark or Ballantyne or wherever, park at a medical building, and sit in a waiting room to talk about their relationship with food. Virtual sessions happen on your laptop, from your couch, on your lunch break, before the kids get home. The clients who might have canceled a Wednesday in-person appointment because a meeting ran long are still there for a virtual one.

What working together looks like

Two paths.

The most common is booking a 1:1 session through Nourish. Nourish runs the insurance eligibility check up front, so you’ll know before you commit whether your plan covers sessions. Many plans cover them in full. Good fit if you want to start light and see how it feels.

The other path is the 12-Week Program. It’s a structured private program with a kickoff call, phase check-ins, private email access, and an interactive workbook you keep. Founding rate is $1,097 for cohort one (or three monthly payments of $389). Cohorts are capped at 4-6 clients so you actually get real attention. Better fit if you want a defined arc from the start.

Not sure which one fits? Start with a Nourish session. We’ll figure it out.

Related questions

Do you take Blue Cross Blue Shield NC?
Coverage is handled through Nourish and depends on your specific plan. The eligibility check on the booking page returns an answer in about a minute, no commitment required.
Do we ever meet in person?
No. All sessions are virtual. If you specifically need an in-person modality (metabolic testing, hands-on refeeding under medical supervision), I'll help you find someone local for that.
What states are you licensed in?
North Carolina primarily. Through the Nourish platform I see clients across the U.S., and Nourish handles the multi-state licensing framework for virtual dietetics.
What's the difference between working with you and other Charlotte dietitians?
Most Charlotte-area dietitians work from a traditional or weight-loss framework: a plan, a target, a way to measure. My work is [HAES-aligned](/topics/haes/) and [non-diet](/non-diet-dietitian/). If you're looking for someone to hand you a meal plan and a scale, that's honestly not me, and I'd rather say so up front.
